Venue Shopping 101: 6 Considerations When Choosing the Perfect Spot for Your Event

If you're planning an event, you probably know that finding the right venue is super important. Whether it's a networking event, educational forum, or fundraiser, the venue can really make or break the whole thing. So, what do we look for in a spot? Here are a few things we like to keep in mind!

  • First off, the place has got to look good, right? A venue with character and charm, like a fancy ballroom or a place with historic architecture can really make an impression on your guests!   • Location is key too. A spot that's easy to get to and has some nearby restaurants and hotels is always a bonus. We also want to make sure that the space is big enough to fit everyone comfortably without feeling too cramped or too empty.

  • Parking! We have seen many an event’s attendance impacted by inconvenient, inaccessible, or expensive parking. If you find the perfect venue and parking is a challenge, be sure to communicate up front with guests so that they know what to expect and provide them with suggestions on where to park and how to best access the venue. Managing expectations will help to ensure your guests are not frustrated upon arrival.

  • Amenities are another key consideration. We know, it’s a broad category, but a few things to ask about are whether they have tables and chairs available, if there is a kitchen facility on site, if there is audio visual equipment on site, and if the event space and the washrooms are accessible! All of these considerations will also help you determine what you might need to rent externally.

  • Of course, we can't forget about the price tag! We're all about a venue that offers good value for money and that doesn't hit you with any sneaky fees. It's also a plus if they've got everything you need, like catering, all in one place.

  • Last but not least, flexibility is crucial! We want a venue that's willing to work with us and can handle any unexpected curveballs. Because let's be real, things never go exactly according to plan.
